SAINT ANDREW STUDENTS ARE IMMERSED
IN A COMMUNITY OF SHARED FAITH —AN EXTENSION OF OUR
LARGER PARISH FAMILY.
Students participate in weekly Mass together, receive the sacraments regularly, and take leadership roles in devotional practices and community service projects. They are instructed to practice virtuous behavior and they see firsthand how Christian values help them in their relationships with one another, their families, their teachers and their work.
At Saint Andrew School, religion classes are woven into the daily curriculum. This means our students are getting age-appropriate lessons in Bible history, morality, and virtues as they gradually learn about their own personal health and the richness and diversity of the world around them. Our teachers model the very values that our faith teaches—6 hours every day.
Once a week, children in grades K-4 break into small groups and visit the Atrium. The Montessori method of education is used involving scripture, liturgy, and materials specifically designed for the program. Saint Andrew was the first school in Columbus to offer this dynamic hands-on approach to faith-formation.
Second grade students prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion during school hours, and celebrate Jesus Day before receiving Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament for the first time.
Our eighth grade students prepare for Confirmation with in-class studies and a retreat. Students in grades 3-8 receive reconciliation with their peers twice throughout the school year.
All students, K-8, attend a weekly school Mass. Students actively participate as lectors and take up the offertory gifts.
Students can join the Choristers, which brings them into the liturgical life of the parish and diocese.
